The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially addressed concerns surrounding the non-payment of 2024 allowances for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students, assuring the public that steps are in place to resolve the issue.
According to the statement, the delays were caused by transitional challenges during NSFAS’s shift from using third-party payment partners back to a direct payment model. This change occurred during the 2024 academic year and required a complex reconciliation process, which has been running alongside the start of the 2025 academic cycle.
NSFAS confirmed that this reconciliation process is nearing completion and outlined the payment schedule as follows:
Monthly TVET allowances for 2025 will be disbursed on 25 May 2025.
A special payment run for all unpaid 2024 TVET allowances will take place on 31 May 2025.
The Scheme reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the education sector to fulfill its responsibilities and resolve systemic issues that have impacted students’ access to financial support.
NSFAS emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader mission to ensure efficient and timely disbursement of tuition and living allowances to all eligible students.
